On the Button Accreditation is awarded to early years settings that consistently demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of children, families, educators working with children, and senior teams. The first Accreditation is included in your subscription.
It’s more than a badge. It shows that, at the time it is awarded, your setting uses On the Button every day to support safer practices, improve oversight, and keep everyone accountable. This accreditation gives families peace of mind. For leaders and staff, it’s a clear sign of their real efforts to keep children and the team safe and well. It also shows that policies are being put into practice.
We encourage settings to start using the software in their daily work as soon as possible so it becomes embedded in everyday practice. The Accreditation process helps show when this is happening across the whole setting, with everyone playing their part.

Accreditation highlights strong practices by:
• owners and senior leaders
• carers and educators working alongside the children
• other members of the team who support the setting, such as kitchen, maintenance, office and cleaning staff
• families, carers, and external professionals
This achievement reassures parents, the community, local authorities, and inspectors seeking signs of a strong safeguarding culture.
Settings are usually invited to apply for Accreditation about four to six months after they start using On the Button. Nurseries, preschools, or clubs should be using the software regularly and appropriately. If you feel ready sooner, you can ask to apply earlier; however, we will need to have a conversation to confirm that you and your team are likely to succeed.
You’ll be invited to book an online meeting at a time that suits you. Usually, the owner, operations manager, or the manager responsible for safeguarding and well-being attends this meeting.
During the Accreditation process, you will be asked a series of questions about:
• who is using the software
• what they are using it for
• how it is being used in practice
You’ll also be asked to share your best examples of using the software in real situations, without naming any children, families, or staff. This helps show how On the Button supports your work in practical ways.
You’ll also get a chance to suggest ways to make the software even better at supporting safeguarding and well-being. During the process, which takes about 30 minutes, you’ll know if you’re on track for Accreditation, and it’s usually confirmed at the end of the meeting.
If you don’t meet the standard right away, we’ll support you so you can achieve it later. This support will be provided by directing users to online help videos and, if required, extra mentoring.
🔹 Marketing Advantage
You’ll get two versions of the accreditation logo: one for newsletters and printed materials, and one for your website. The website logo links to a resource that helps families support well-being at home.
🔹 Boosts Team Morale
Celebrate your team’s work in safeguarding and well-being. Public recognition can build trust, motivation, and accountability.
🔹 Referral Rewards
You can earn £1 for each registered place with every successful referral. The new setting just needs to give your name when they sign up. Once they pay their subscription, the amount will be credited to your On the Button account.
For example, if you refer a nursery with 50 places, you’ll earn £50. (as at April 2026)

🔹 Recognition and Visibility
We will celebrate your achievement on our social media and add your setting to the Accreditation page on this website alongside other successful settings. This gives families and others looking at your setting another way to see that you have achieved On the Button Accreditation.
Silver and Gold levels are being developed for future accreditations, so settings can continue to be recognised as they use On the Button more over time.
The first On the Button Accreditation lasts for two years. After that, you’ll be invited to meet the criteria for the Silver Accreditation Standard. Once you have Silver, you can work towards Gold Accreditation. The process is likely to be similar.
