How does On the Button notification system ensure urgent safeguarding matters are always addressed?

• Notifications from On the Button are delivered by SMS and email to staff who 'need to know'. It highlights information that has not yet been addressed and remains highlighted until someone has at least formally acknowledged the log of information.

• We use Twilio services to send SMS messages. Similarly to Azure, Twilio employs built in redundancy to ensure deliverability.

• Twilio is very reliable when sending SMS messages, but like any system, it isn't 100% perfect. The success rate depends on several factors, such as the destination country, the mobile carrier, and whether the phone number is active or valid. On average, Twilio successfully sends the vast majority of messages—typically over 99%—but a small percentage might fail due to issues like invalid phone numbers, carrier problems, or network congestion.

• On the Button's SMS messages are backed up by the email service for the senior staff the setting establishes. These email addresses are verified before the staff member can access On the Button to ensure the notification is sent to the correct email address.
